How do I unpack, store, flatten and repack veneer?

Watch edges and end which are easily damaged

Blue tape edges and ends once unpacked to protect

Use spray bottle with glycerin and water to flatten lumpy veneer

Repack as one unit on flat shelving in same humidity as will be used

 

How do I fix splits/cracks before using veneer?

Make sure you want to use that piece, corner or edge-veneer is cheap

Draw out what piece you need

Pick glue face/show face and do all repairs throughout project on glue face

Blue tape split or seam back together and apply veneer tape to show face then cut out what you need

 

Pick a substrate and cut it oversized

MDF, Plywood, Particle Board, Solid Wood

Why and when to use each one

Yellow, Hide, Urea, Epoxy, Poly, Contact cement

Why and when to use each with emphasis on yellow use

 

Pressing

Use firm even pressure

Carpet pad evens out pressure

Use 80 tooth blade or high quality blade with medium speed

Use a router or bandsaw for non straight cuts

Put it in your kitchen cabinets

Always protect the edges of a veneered panel
